Learn to Move
Active Living Program

A gentle exercise program is being offered starting in July, with an education component, designed specifically for adults with chronic health conditions or physical limitations that prevent them from participating in other classes or who are new to exercise and not sure where to start. Participants learn how exercise and having an active lifestyle can help improve health and quality of life. The class will include a gentle warm-up, cardiovascular, strength, balance and flexibility exercises. Participants will receive individualised guidance based on their health conditions and physical abilities. By the end of the four weeks, participants will have developed a plan to continue with an active lifestyle after program completion. This program is provided at no cost to participants other than membership at the Griffiths Centre.

Registration Information:

Classes will be on Tuesdays and Fridays from 1:30 - 3:00 PM.

Start dates will be provided upon registration.

The first four weeks of the program are free to everyone thanks to the Calgary Rural PCN (Primary Care Network) and the Griffiths Senior Centre.

To join the program, you must register and attend for the first four weeks. This allows the Kinesiologist to provide any specific exercise recommendations for you based on your health conditions.

If you wish to continue in the exercise portion of the program on a drop in basis after the first four weeks and if you are not currently a member of the Griffiths Centre, an annual membership fee of $10 will be required.

Classes will be held at the Griffiths Senior Centre (122 Government Road, Black Diamond). You will be required to fill out a health history questionnaire prior to your first class.

Classes are facilitated by a Primary Care Network Kinesiologist.
